ELFI@euroCRIS

Zum dritten Mal wird das ELFI-Team mit einem eigenen Beitrag an einer CRIS-Konferenz teilnehmen. Seit 1992 werden diese Konferenzen alle zwei Jahre an unterschiedlichen Orten in Europa abgehalten.

Anfang Juni wird in Prag die elfte Konferenz über Forschungsinformationssysteme (Current Research Information Systems - CRIS) stattfinden. Bei dieser Veranstaltung, die diesmal unter dem Motto "e-Infrastructures for Research and Innovation: Linking Information Systems to Improve Scientific Knowledge Production" steht, werden zahlreiche Fachleute aus mehreren europäischen Ländern zusammenkommen. Getragen und organisiert wird die CRIS auch in diesem Jahr wieder von der Organisation euroCRIS. Die weltweit tätige Non-Profit-Organisation entwickelt und betreut das Common European Research Information Format (CERIF) - ein Datenmodell, das zu einem international akzeptierten Standard zu Datenhaltung und -austausch in allen Bereichen der Forschung geworden ist.

Institutional Membership

ELFI zählt seit Neuestem zu den mehr als 100 euroCRIS-Mitgliedsorganisationen. EuroCRIS fungiert auch als ein Forum, das seinen Mitgliedern Gelegenheit gibt, Informationen über Lösungen konzeptioneller und technischer Probleme auszutauschen, Kontakte zu knüpfen und zu vertiefen oder sich einfach einmal darüber auszutauschen, wie man andernorts mit vergleichbaren Aufgaben umgeht.

Das ELFI-Team hat in der Vergangenheit bereits an zwei CRIS-Konferenzen teilgenommen, im Jahr 2000 wurde in Helsinki die kurz zuvor aufgenommene ELFI-Arbeit in einem Vortrag dargestellt. Die nächste Konferenz fand im Jahr 2002 in Kassel statt, das ELFI-Team hatte damals ein Poster mitgebracht.

ELFI-Geschäftsführer Andreas Esch zu den Motiven, sich bei euroCRIS stärker zu engagieren: "Durch die Entwicklung und Etablierung von Standards erleichtern wir nicht nur die Arbeit, es kommen auch neue Anwendungsmöglichkeiten und Dienstleistungen in den Blick, die wir uns ohne diese Erweiterung der Grundlagen nicht vorstellen konnten. Dies kann ein fruchtbarer und sehr inspirierender Prozess sein, der auf die Beteiligten in mannigfacher Weise zurück wirkt. Wenn wir Teile der ELFI-Informationen CERIF-konform an andere CRIS's übermitteln können, entstehen daraus neue Formen der Zusammenarbeit. Zwischenzeitlich schaffen wir die technischen Voraussetzungen dafür, unseren Service auch in anderen Sprachen anbieten zu können."

Bis zum Juni wird das ELFI-Team wieder ein Poster mit relevanten Informationen und interessanten Fakten zu den neuesten Entwicklungen bei ELFI entwickeln.

For the third time the ELFI team will participate in a CRIS conference with its own contribution. Since 1992 these conferences are held every two years at different places in Europe.

At the beginning of June the eleventh conference on research information systems (Current Research Information Systems - CRIS) will take place in Prague. At this meeting for "e-Infrastructures for Research and Innovation: Linking Information Systems to improve Scientific Knowledge Production", numerous specialists from several European countries will come together. As in previous years the event is organized by the organization euroCRIS. This world-wide operating Non profit organization develops and supervises for the Common European Research Information Format (CERIF) - a data model, which became an internationally accepted standard to data-retention and -exchange within all fields of scientific research.

Institutional Membership

Since severeral weeks ELFI ranks among more than 100 euroCRIS member-organisations. EuroCRIS serves as a forum, by giving its members the opportunity of informational exchange about conceptual and technical solutions to their tasks, of manking new contacts and deepen them or just once over it exchange information on how people deal with comparable problems in other places.

ELFI already partiticipated in two CRIS conferences. In the year 2000 ELFI-Team presented its work that it just had taken up with a lecture in Helsinki. The next conference took place in the year 2002 in Kassel, at that time the ELFI-Team brought a poster.

ELFI managing director Andreas Esch about ELFI's motives to engage itself with euroCRIS more strongly: "With the development and establishment of standards we do not only facilitate our work, besides new application possibilities and services come to the view, which we could not have imagined without this extension of the bases. This could be a fruitful and very inspiring process, which affects the involved ones in manifold ways back. If we are able to convey parts of the information CERIF conform to other CRIS's, from it new forms of co-operation develop. At the moment we create the technical facilities to be able to offer our service also in other languages."

By June the ELFI-team will develop its poster with relevant information and interesting facts to the newest developments among ELFI.
